First Snow.

First Snow.. maybe we should start thinking about taking the wicker in for the season!

Hello, its been a while. I thought the occassion of the first snow in our new house was a good time to come out of hiding.

In case you are wondering, I am not pregnant yet. Among the many things we have to be thankful for a new baby is not yet one of them.

I did start a separate blog called becoming-mom where I can vent/rant/rave about infertility and you can follow our progress if you care to.   I started the new cycle doing daily injections of infertility drugs, so I suppose you can say I’ve become a junkie since you last heard from me :)

All of this infertility stuff has not meant that work has stopped on the house. Well not for Jeff anyway! He’s been working hard even as I dart off from one medical appointment to another.

Witness our new shutters!

Before, no shutters..

shutters

After, with shutters!

Yes, we are aware that they are a tad too short. Apparently measuring the window height from the INSIDE is not really the way to go. Its probably not glaring enough to warrant doing over, but it does bother me a bit when I look at them. Still, overall I think its a nice improvement. The storm door is also new, and let me tell you, I never thought I would care, but I am in LOVE with our new storm door. Its much heavier weight than the old one. It feels like a real door not that thin aluminum stuff. Plus, you can adjust how quickly the spring closes after opening, which has cut down greatly the number of times the door hits me in the heel when I’m carrying in groceries.

I hope you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving. After our two year exile in Florida, I can’t tell you how nice it is to be “home” for the holidays!

  1. Oh, I just love snow! The first snow, especially! We are still waiting on ours… it’s predicted for Wednesday! I hope I, too, will be posting pictures of snow soon!

The shutters look nice. I didn’t notice the shortness until you mentioned it!

  2. Hi Jennifer, I hope you get your first snow soon.. we don’t often get a white christmas, so it might be nice to have a white Thanksgiving at least!

  3. Nothing like the first snow fall. . .

I would suggest having your husband hang the shutters centered on the outside of the window – evenly spaced. Instead of a gap at the bottom. This way extra space would be evenly divided between the top and bottom of the window. How do I know. . . it happened to us in a prior house too LOL!!

    Blessings,

    Sher

  4. Hey! Look who’s back! It’s nice to ‘see’ you. I love snow! I’m in NJ and was shocked to see it myself this moring. FINALLY!!
I’ll be sure to check out your becoming-mom blog. I’m going through all of the same fertility madness myself…:)

  5. Just came across your blog, what a great idea for a blog. When we first became home owners – 2 years ago now – we felt clueless throughout the process. I’ll definitely check back on your posts, and good luck with all the rest..
